Je to již přes týden, co jsme vypustili mezi všechny "staromilce" a fanoušky našeho festivalu plakát na letošní ročník oslav metalu s názvem BACK TO THE SYMBOLIC. Čekali jsme, čekali jsme na vyjádření majitele ohledně prodeje Třídvorského areálu. Bylo neskutečně nepříjemné pracovat od léta 2022 na lineupu, domlouvat se s kapelami, s jejich agenty, a přitom vůbec netušit, zda na koupališti na konci léta zakotvíme. Dohoda zněla jasně: „Zavoláme si koncem ledna a když bude šance na pronájem, festival bude." Skvělou zprávou je, ŽE BUDE.

A bude to veliké. MOC jsme toužili dostát svému jménu, a utvrdit vás v tom, že SYMBOLIC vždy byl, je a bude hlavně o kapelách, které jsme ještě nikdy na našem území nemohli vidět. Milujeme metalovou historii a švédští SORCERY tuto historii bez jakýchkoli pochyb spoluvytvářeli. Pamatuji si, jako by to bylo včera, když jsem se někdy v roce 91 nebo 92 dostal k jejich debutu "Bloodchilling Tales". Skvělý Death Metal. Mé nadšení pak nebralo konce, když se kapela v roce 2009 vrátila na scénu. Jejich tři nové/plnohodnotné materiály jsou stejně skvělé, jako ty z 90. let. Je nám ctí být opět první, kdo tuto veličinu představí domácímu publiku.

A tím nekončíme. Až se mi tají dech, že budu moci být u znovuvzkříšení mých oblíbenců VILE. Tahle americká kapela mi ve své době (konkrétně v roce 1999) způsobila svým debutem "Stench of the Deceased" mnoho bezesných nocí. Skvělé snoubení "staré" a "nové" školy... Nejiné je to s MERCYLESS. Desky "Abject Offerings" a hlavně "Coloured Funeral" dodnes řadím mezi nejpovedenější v žánru Evropského Death Metalu. SCHIZOPHRENIA je pak slib, můj slib, že je po minuloročních problémech ZNOVU do Dvorů přivezeme.

Pokud bychom se měli bavit o dalších jménech, jako jsou němečtí OBSCENITY, holandští BURIAL REMAINS, řečtí TYPHUS nebo britští CONSECRATION, napíši jen "ZKUSTE si všechny zmíněné poslechnout". OBSCENITY (vznik 1989) vůbec nepatří mezi nováčky, přičemž ve své době (cca mezi lety 1996-2002) velmi často koncertovali i u nás. Zbytek i já uvidím poprvé a tomu věřte, že se na jejich vystoupení nesmírně těším.

SYMBOLIC je prostě fanouškovský festival pořádaný pro fanoušky. Chceme, abyste se u nás cítili dobře, a proto opět stanovujeme limitaci na 350 lístků. Brzy oznámíme i další překvapení, ale na ta si budete muset ještě chvíli počkat, protože dnes je to hlavně o kapelách... o skvělých a námi vymodlených kapelách.

BACK TO THE SYMBOLIC, first news.

It's been over a week since we released a poster for this year's celebration of metal called BACK TO THE SYMBOLIC to all the "old schoolers" and fans of our festival. We have been waiting, waiting for the owner's statement regarding the sale of the venue in Tři Dvory. It was incredibly uncomfortable working on the lineup from the summer of 2022, making arrangements with the bands, their agents and not knowing if we would be able to dock at the venue next to swimming area in Tři Dvory at the end of the summer. The deal was clear: "We'll call at the end of January, and if there's a chance of a rental, we'll do the festival." The great news is that it worked!

And it's gonna be great. We wanted to stand up to our name, and to assure you that SYMBOLIC has always been, is and will always be about bands that we have never seen in Czech Republic. We love metal history and Sweden's SORCERY have without any doubt co-created that history. I remember like it was yesterday when I got their debut album "Bloodchilling Tales" sometime in 91 or 92. Great Death Metal. My enthusiasm then took no end when the band returned to the scene in 2009. Their three new/full-lengths are as great as the ones from the 90s. Once again we are honored to be the first to introduce this greatness to  our domestic fans.

And that's not all. I'm so excited to be at the resurrection of my favourite VILE. This American band caused me many sleepless nights in their time (specifically in 1999) with their debut "Stench of the Deceased". A great fusion of "old" and "new" school... It is the same with MERCYLESS. I still consider the albums "Abject Offerings" and especially "Coloured Funeral" among the most successful in the European Death Metal genre. SCHIZOPHRENIA is then a promise, my promise, that we will bring them to the Tři Dvory AGAIN after last year's problems.

If we were to talk about other names like German OBSCENITY, Netherlands' BURIAL REMAINS, Greek TYPHUS or UK's CONSECRATION, I would just write "TRY to listen to all of them". OBSCENITY (formed in 1989) are not newcomers at all, and in their time (between 1996-2002) they performed very often in our country. I will see the rest of bands for the first time as well and believe me, I am looking forward to their performance immensely.

SYMBOLIC is simply a festival for fans. We want you to feel comfortable with us, that's why we are again setting limit to 350 tickets only. We'll announce some other surprises soon, but you'll have to wait a little longer for those, because today is mainly about the bands... great bands, and bands that we love.
